In April 2018 we organised our first “Schools for Malawi quiz event”. With the profit of this event, we were able to by the building materials needed to provide a new toilet for 5 of the pre-schools.
The newly constructed schools, Chisomo II and Tikondane II did not have a toilet up until now. The toilet at Mathithi is in very bad condition and needs to be rebuild. The toilet at favour needs to have a new floor and the walls need to be plastered. Chitimbe II toilet needs a new floor, a roof and here the walls also needs plastering.
The local communities will be working on the toilets during the month of August, so when school starts on the 10th of September, they will have a new toilet at each school.
The work will be monitored by Pre-school Supervisor Shake and the two newly arrived Development Instructors Lucio & Giovanna. Lucio & Giovanna are following the DI-program at DRH Lindersvold and will work with the pre-schools until the beginning of February.
There are still 4 schools were the toilet should be renovated as soon as possible, namely; Tiyanjane, Mbawe, Jumbe and Milala. We hope to find extra funding to realise this as quickly as possible.
